Throughout the opening chapter of Lord of the Flies there are many events which foreshadow later events of the tonic.Golding sets the beginning of the novel at the site of the plane rash, the scar. The scar had been smashed and had shaken tree trunks. The boys presence on the island has already imprinted the island.
